I didn’t spend much time kuSunday School because our Praise Team Leader took me to join the Praise team.

You are known as Khaya Sibanyoni, is that your birth name or stage name?

(Laughs) Actually my birth name is Khayelihle Prince Sibanyoni

What are your clan names? (izithakazelo)?

Sibanyoni, Malambule, Nqamane, Mathethaaaa Khoza’khulu…

So, Malambule, tell us briefly about your upbringing

I am the last born from my beautiful mother Zodwa Sibanyoni and the late Tebogo. I’m a PK (Pastor’s Kid). I know nothing else but Jesus Christ as my King. I’m Swati and I stay in a Johannesburg township called Vosloorus. I did my primary schooling in Ndlelenhle Primary School went to Thulo Lesedi Secondary School. I didn’t spend much time kuSunday School because our Praise Team Leader loved how I sang she took me from Sunday School to join the Praise team.

When did you know you are gifted in singing?

Honestly from a very young age. I started singing on the Praise Team when I was doing Grade 6, however I knew I wanted to do music full time by the time I was doing Grade 11.

Can we fast forward to Khaya Sibanyoni in MTN Joyous Celebration, how did that happen?

In 2016 I met an amazing guy, uBab’ Lindelani Mkhize as he was working on his project called Lindelani Mkhize presents Ignite. He’s been my great Daddy figure since. He later called me to come join MTN Joyous Celebration in 2018 (if I’m not lying). It’s really been a dream come true for me to be part of MTN Joyous Celebration, I’m learning and growing everyday.

How is touring with MTN Joyous Celebration?

MTN Joyous Celebration tours are the best. I know a lot of of places today some even outside of SA, all this is because of MTN Joyous Celebration. We always have an amazing experience everywhere we go.

I personally love the single Uthandiwe from your 2018 EP, can you tell us about the song?

That song is really close to my heart. In that song, God is just talking to us and all He says is: “Always know I love you. Things may not go well for you as yet but God loves you infinitely.” The song was authored by Bafana Mazibuko
and Produced by Sphiwe Nhlapho, Mthunzi Shabangu and myself.

We hear you are in the Ngenzelw’ Isimanga Worship Night line-up, what can we expect from you on Friday the 16th?

I’m very excited for my big sister Londiwe. She’s done very well for herself. So on the 16th I’m just going to be worshipping God and nothing else. He has been good to us and He is worthy of all our praises. See you there.

Finaly, please share words of encouragement to our readers/fans coming out of the lockdown feeling defeated

God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or imagine. So let’s trust God for our restoration. HE IS ABLE. Let us not give up now as more grace is coming our way.
